PGA Sutures
The Endure Absorbable PGA Suture is a sterile, braided, synthetic, absorbable surgical suture made entirely of Polyglycolic Acid. Each suture has a Polycaprolactone and Calcium Stearate Coating with a braided multifilament structure.
They are intended for use in soft tissue approximation and/or ligation in general. They are also commonly utilized in ophthalmology and other surgical procedures.

WeSuture is the brand name of surgical sutures by Endure Industries. Endure PGA Sutures meet the requirements of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) Pharmacopoeia of monograph requirements for absorbable surgical sutures.

INDICATIONS
Being absorbable, polyglycolic acid sutures are not appropriate for procedures requiring extensive tissue approximation (e.g. ophthalmic, cardiovascular, and neurological tissues.). Soft tissue approximation and/or ligation are both appropriate applications for needled absorbable PGA sutures.
PERFORMANCE
The PGA suture causes a mild to moderate inflammatory tissue reaction. Progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of PGA occurs by means of hydrolysis, where the copolymer degrades to glycolic and lactic acids, which are then absorbed and metabolized in the body. Absorption begins with a loss of tensile strength, followed by a loss of mass.
In the Biodegradability Study, Absorbable Polyglycolic Acid Suture retained 82% of its original tensile strength after 14 days and 56% of its original tensile strength after 21 days. This result was comparable to or better than that of other suture products. Endure PGA Suture will be fully absorbed within 120 days of being implanted.
STERILITY
- PGA sutures are sterilized by Ethylene Oxide
- Do not re-sterilize!
- Do not use if package is opened or damaged!
- Discard opened, unused sutures!
